Last year my trusty LDT developed a knock, started to misfire/"pop" and became harder and harder to start. I decided to swap it out for a takeout LDS. Project creep led to a major refresh of the LDS before it went in and also the Waterloo 5th gear OD modification to the Spicer 3053A.

If you are rebuilding a LDS or LDT, or if you plan a LDS conversion, perhaps there is some useful info for you!

Here is a short video of the truck, startup and a shot of speed vs rpm. https://youtu.be/qUlbrEfXWIM

Heck of a clean engine bay, nice! When you were showing no blow by, was the water seen on the block the leaks you had previously asked about?

Some is just coolant spill from refilling the rad. The longer tracks on the block are oil traces from the leak before I re-torqued the head nuts. I will clean them up, but I wanted to see if there was more coming down in the same areas. There isn't. I broke a wire on the EGT probe somewhere and need to fix that. EGTs were below 1200, even when leaning into it, but the brand new "D" boosts like there is no tomorrow. 15 psi is the end of the gauge and it easily pegs it. I have since learned to be easier on the pedal! I did a leisurely drive with boost up to 10 psi and it runs strong.
I **may** turn down the fuel some....

Cattlerepairman where did you buy your new "D" turbo at ? I need to either find a rebuild kit or get a new "D" turbo since mine just developed a nasty leak the other day.
