I need to get a new injector pump for my multifuel. I have seen them priced anywhere from $500 to $1000. What should I be looking for before purchasing the pump? I also keep hearing from people statements like "It seems to be in good shape", It ran on my old engine etc." Any advice on purchasing pump without getting rooked?

OK, I'll take a shot at it.

These trucks and most of their components are stone reliable, but even they wear out and need replacement. If you get one from another truck, you may have great service from it, you may not, it's pretty much luck of the draw. It will depend on the mileage put on the component, how long between maintenance intervals, and how well it was treated when used.

Keep in mind that a new injector pump cost the military about $2600 new.

It all comes down to how much money you have to spend and how much risk you are willing to take on a used part.

Thanks for the reply. Money is a concern but I am more interested in not throwing good money after bad on a pump after spending
a large amount of money. Got some questionable advice from a parts dealer whom shall remain nameless about a pump they
had in stock for 1800.00. Parts seem to run the gambit on price and I got myself burnt on some transmission parts earlier this year.
A little gun shy as of late...LOL I want to do a quality job repairing my truck, just don't want to buy a small fleet of trucks to get this one
back on the road.

I have a depot rebuild. You send me the money for the shipping (it weights about 30 lbs.), you put it on, and then you send a donation for whatever you feel is right.
