LDT-465 Fuel Lines, why and where?

Plastic fuel lines, why? Talked it over with a few friends and my best guess is for ease of replacement in the field with bulk line and fittings? The low pressure line between primary and secondary filters developed a hole and I replaced it with good ol' rubber hose and brass fittings since I had them in the shop, I'd like to keep with the original theme and replace the plastic line, where can I find it? Might not be a bad idea to keep a few feet of each size in my spares box as well. Thanx
