Length of Trans dipstick?

What is the length of a tranny dipstick for an m1008, th400? Mine has the end broken off and i've tried buying a replacement but it was the same length as the broken one; so obviously my broken dipstick shoulde be longer by at least a couple of inches.

Your local parts store will carry a th400 dip stick for about $10. That's the same tranny they put in gassers. I got that trans in my Nova....

I went to napa and got one. But the length of that dipstick is the same length as my current one which has the tip broken off.

I don't have the manuals handy, but have you looked in the TM parts manual for the GM part number?

After the pull ring broke of the trans dipstick in my M1009, I swapped it with the dipstick from my '76 chevy plowtruck with a 350 gas/TH350. They are the same dipstick.
