lift pump piston question

I've read the lift pump threads but it's unclear to me how to deal with the piston that has wedged itself to the plate. Do you have to remove the plate to be able to push the piston back up or do you turn the motor by hand? Are the two 10mm bolts the only thing holding the plate on there? I took the old leaking pump out and that's where I'm at.

Take the 2 bolts out remove the plate and you should be able to remove the rod. Or you can try to free it up and slide it back in. Anit alot of room to work in. Good luck

I found it easier to remove the 2 10mm bolts and remove the plate. Then the rod will slide out. I covered mine in grease to keep it in the motor when putting the plate and lift pump back on.
