Nah, I WISH! The carrier had an EGR cooler failure and he had no place to put the trailer. I got to poke around in it and fire it off. Powered by a beautiful, dual aftercooled 903. ESN in the Cummins DB says it left the factory as a 750 HP model

More. The driver said it was gong to Albany Ga. for overhaul. A 2004 model with 49 hrs on it! Very corroded. 2 million for this beast. The dash has no gauges. It has bar type read outs, kinda like a Sheridan. I REALLY woulda liked to give it a test putt

Very cool pics of the amphib - that makes my hair on my arm stand straight up and goose bumps looking at them pics - like being around PB's gun truck and tracked equip. Heck - just being in his compound is a rush.

It was condensed inside. Everything was wet. The only BII stuff it had in it was the miller welder. The compressor and power unit was still in it too. I took a pic of the letter from the CO in Okinawa releasing it to another user. The maint. records were in it too. 1/2 page, just PM stuff, oil, lube points, little stuff. I can't believe that after only 49 hours of operation it is in the condition it is in and going to overhaul. One would think that with all the equipment we have we could put some of it to use. I was at the Fontana yard once and they got some trucks in from Hawaii. They were so rusted through that I could actually put my hand through the doors and fenders. Why don't the places that are close to salt air get a desalination unit and wash the equipment? Right now, there are two trucks at Fontana. AM eneral cabs, NTC 400's. Big 'ol 4 axle trucks, one is a dump and the other is a tractor. Both have less than 1000 miles and are rust buckets. The 900 series trucks from Hi all had under 500 miles on them. Maybe it's coincedence but all these had USMC markings.

Just looking...OK...DROOLING at this make's me lust for a water-borne assault MV. It pains me to see that the Marine's...especially the MARINE'S...do not/will not take care of their...OUR EQUIPMENT...!!! Sure is different than when I was in. If any of our (Air Force) equipment was allowed to be in that condition,an Art. 15 would have been the least of our punishment. So sad....

I can't believe that I am going to stand up for Marines,(former Navy/Army) but, in their defense the last time I was out on that side of the world the was a huge "war reserve area"on Okinawa where acres of equipment was just stored in the open and with the low hours this was most likely where it came from. No cool dry Norwegian caves to keep the Corps extra's in out there. I had several former Marine tankers and tractor drivers in my old armor unit and they took better care of their tracks then they did their wives. It was years and millions of $ worth of repairs before we got dehumidifiers for our M1's in the motor pool.
