Yeah the GOER if i'am not mistaken share's parts with 621 a,or b models scraper's and those part's are around **** you mite beable to buy 621 running and use it to put together the 520 GOER . It's a lot of work and you better have a big shop that's a big unit. Your MV Bro D8dave

BTW,the rear winch was built ONLY for the GOER,and the M553 was the only GOER series truck to carry a spare tire.

Also the M553 tipped the scales at a ready to roll weight of 37,870 lbs,a full 12,440 lbs than the M520 cargo and 9770 lbs than a M559 tanker.

I hope the $2100 includes freight, or you are getting taken to the cleaners!

A temporary (three day or single trip) oversize permit is usually less than $150, unles the load requires an escort, and a GOER certainly doesn't require an escort.

If that is the total freight quote, it is a decent price for an oversize load.

Well,if you are on the hunt for a GOER,Dean's Govt surplus is about the only place that has intact units.Pretty sure Sam Winer scrapped all his some time back.BTW if you want one RUNNING one,go ahead and buy 3,cause you'll need 2 for spare parts,as NO MV parts dealers stock,or for that matter, can even get parts for these machines(believe me,I tried). They weigh in at about 15 tons empty, are overwidth, and at best, will run 30 mph top speed(if you can keep all 4 wheels on the ground). But definetly a worthwile vehicle to preserve, given their low production numbers.

BTW,I also priced tires,$2000 each for bias ply recaps.

Good luck in your search!!
deans had several stacks of the tires,,,new, old, but still new.

Just wondering, any address/website/phone number for this guy.

just in-case me or any others want to get something from him?
Good luck:roll:.

I've tried many times for the past 10 years to buy from him (I went to engineering school in the same town in the mid to late 90's), and he never answered his door or phone.

Shame to see it all rust away. He has an entire building filled w/ M151 frames, body parts, and engines turning into rust, as well as an entire tick infested field of GOER front ends....

Sounds like a hoarder...I watched a documentary a couple of nights ago about them...it's a real disease...worse than OD fever (if thats possible).

Sure wish I could go shopping at his place though:roll:

Just FYI Papabear, the GOER wrecker pictured in davesgmc's pics is #117 I think,I know Mr Dean told me several years ago he had the last one built.

If you can ever get hold of him,buy it and you'll have the first and last production M553 wrecker!!
