Your probably going to find driving it will be the best unless you know of a local flat bed owner/operater than can give you a good rate if he's coming home empty.

I thought about driving it home but here are some things that concern me, I do not have a CDL, I'm not sure of how to get insurance and plates for it before pickup, this is all new to me.
Thanks

Kenner, I was born and raised in Iron Mountain, MI, so thought I would respond to some of your questions. for insurance on my M931 I use Continental Western Insurance. $123 yr full coverage if you only use it as a collector vehicle. But it allows you to transport it home, use it to go to events and shows, and occasional use. There phone number is (800)-533-0303. For plates when I pickup mine, I get a 30 day temporary permit. Just let them know it will be unloaded. You may be able to find someone with a CDL there and get them to go with you. Otherwise see if Michigan offers a non-commercial Class "A" license. You might be able to get this with just the tests. I also use Weeks Trucking for some of my shipments if I cannot to and recover my items myself. There contact info is: weekstrucking@yahoo.com Phone: (646) 707-2194 It just matters if there in that area, and if they are empty. If I had more vacation time, I would come up and help you recover it.

For a temporary tag, all you need is the bill of sale with the VIN#, year and model, and proof of insurance. For the insurance, everything is done bu e-mail, and they will need the same info, and pictures of each side of the vehicle. I used the GL photos for mine. VIN # should be a short number for this truck, and is on the data plate.

In michigan you can't get any tags without it being titled . But with insurance you have 72 hours to drive it the directest route home . As long as you have the release papers from GL you should be good . But your going to need the VIN for insurance. Print off all the information from gl on the sale and carry with you.

Edit : From michigan S.O.S. website : You do not need a license plate to drive a newly purchased vehicle directly home within Michigan within three days of purchase. Carry the assigned title with you. Never use a plate from another vehicle as a substitute.
