Losing air pressure when put into reverse (M817)

Sorry about this mundane question, but every time that I shift the M817 into reverse I get the expected little puff of air escape, but every now and then, it is a massive flood of air that continues until I shift out of reverse. Then the next time it is just fine. Weird. None of the other gears do this. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for your help here. Trying hard to be worthy of this totally most excellent truck...

Could be the air valve for reverse is leaking. My old 818 did and I never fixed it. Use search as there are threads that cover that valve.

Either the reverse air valve on the trans OR the shift cylindler on the xcase
