lttle copper washers

do you use the little copper washers when you replace the glow plugs on an MEP 002A or MEP 003A ? or any other engine for that matter.

You should but to be honest, I usually reuse the old washers because they get stuck in the hole and I can't get them out easily.

They should be removed and reannealed. Heat them with a till they glow a dull red, then let cool on their own. Ready again.

I ordered a 10 pack of them from McMaster when I changed mine. Not sure of the part number. Maybe someone here knows that off the top of their head. I can try looking back but it's been a couple years

the plugs i bought came with the washers. i used a pick and couldn't find any in the head so i just used the new ones. i don't think there were any in the head to begin with. i wonder if compression jams carbon and crap around the threads and locks them in the head. I wonder??

When i pulled my injectors on my 002a, one washer stayed in the head, the other stuck to the injector. I thought dor sure that someone screwed up somewhere with the missing washer. It wasn't until it was time to remove the heat sinks and clean the parts up did i find the washer encrusted with carbon, stuck to the injector.
Make sure you didn't put a new washer in the heads, with the old washer stuck to the injector!
