Lubing the speedo gear (red gear) question.

Hello all,

I don’t know much about this transfer case but i was wondering if the speedo gear needed to be greased or does the tcase oil keep it lubed? It is a new clean install so I don't have a reference to the old part. I took a peep inside the hole with a camera and it seems that there are some blotches of what looks like grease. Can someone fill me in?

I already order the 80mph electric speedo kit. Costed $800 so I would like to do it right the first time.

Gets it lube from trans fluid.

86 is right but it would not hurt to pre-lube it when installing it, I would.
