LVOSS launcher

I am making some replica M7 LVOSS launchers for My HMMWV. M82 smoke grenades can't really be bought so I was thinking about launching 2.5" Model rocket motors out of it so at night you can put on a cool show if you wanted, or just let the launcher look cool on its own.
I am curious if anyone else has any interest in some. I enjoy projects so I would build them for no cost minus parts.

smoke grenade launchers

I modified mine with a rotary switch to fire each one individually. I made grenades from the smallest estes rocket engines and rocket tubes. I had so many inquiries about them, I bought a pile of 2 1/2" OD x 9" tubes for others to make. You can check them out on my website under HMMWV parts, 2nd. page. I am working on obtaining quantity of nose cones for a price but they are available from many sources.
The real question is, where are you going to light them off? I have enough trouble getting the police to accept my firing of the gas-fired 50 calduring the parades. -Peter

party pooper

Well there is always one party pooper in every crowd. I guess thats me today.

I'm all for having fun with rockets but you better check with your state and local rules and reg's regarding launching anything from the smoke launchers electrically.

In most states and in most cases , federal regulations consider anything that uses a gun powder or propellant to launch it starts to become a weapon. Anything over 1/2 in diameter is a DD. Anything containing more than a 1/4 oz of explosive compound is a DD Anything with a barrel with and overal lenght under 16" not classified as a pistol can be concidered a AOW.
Even launching a rocket sideways in most states is against the law.

I'm just playing devils advicate.
Everythings fun untill you poke an eye out.

Just my .02's worth.
I'd hate to see anyone get in trouble.

Also, firing a projectile firearm/DD or not from a vehicle versus a static position can mean the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony, or between a lower class and a more severe class of felony. Check your state laws.

IF you can make the tubes smaller, you can get 37mm rounds on the cheap.

They have them in colored smoke, OS, CS etc....if you were using them for shows you probably wont want OC/CS though lol

I tried three different times to build these and it just never turned out the way I wanted.
I may come back to it when i find some real launchers to model off of.
Not a ton of pictures out there and I need to see it in real life :/
