M915A1 Starter Interchange
Starter died yesterday recoverinig a trailer. Have pulled the starter and will try to have it rebuilt today.
I have several NOS Prestolite starters (900 miles away) set up for 5 tons... NSN 2920-002999-6216. Look like MIL STD starter for a deuce or 5 ton (depending on alignment of the housing for the drive gear).
My question is whether that starter is universal... and whether I can rotate the end on the body to install it iin the 915A1.
Any help might well get me going fast.
Who's a 915A1 expert out there?
