Hey y’all I have a 1984 m1008 with the 3L80 in it and I was wondering what recommendation y’all have for a complete overhaul kit and what level of shift correction do I need! I do some street highway and off-roading! I want to make it stronger and better. I have the stock 6.2 liter engine as well. Thank you!

The 3L80 “Turbo 400” is an excellent trans and very strong as it is. If you want better street driving as well as a good off-road option it may be time to step up to an overdrive trans (700R4 or 4L80) both have their own pros and cons

Are you going to do the overhaul yourself? I usually do the teardown first to see what it needs, then go shopping once. You might have a local store that serves local trans shops that has the parts on the shelf (here near Louisville we have Whatever It Takes, great to deal with.) I would not block the accumulators since the shifts tend to be fairly firm as is. You might consider upgrading the intermediate clutch sprag/direct drum. (If you get the sprag by itself, watch out for compatibility with your direct drum. The two are often sold together as an assembly.)
