Get someone to get into the truck and turn the st wheel back and forth. Get under the front and look at the tie rods/front end. Do you have slack or is anything popping? if there is something wrong with your king pin you should be able to grab the top of the tire and pulling it in and out and have movement or popping. this might sound shad tree but it has always work for me.

Hey wartburg, Just had the SO do that very thing, everything looked tight, going to try again tomorrow in the daylight just to be sure.
