M1008 Dash Lights

Recently I noticed that my gen 2 light was not coming on before I started the truck. On closer inspection i noticed that i had lost my dash lights. I decided to pull the cluster and take a look. What is the best way to test the lights in the cluster while not being in the truck?

Not sure about the best way, but have you tried two wires hooked to an auxiliary 12v power source? Soldier B helps inform light on/off condition, while soldier A holds the leads.

Although tempting, I would NOT use a truck battery as an alternate source, small 12v battery should be enough.

All of the connection are good except the gen 2 connections. I have tried to clean the spot where the light goes with a pencil eraser with no luck. I do not know how to fix the corroded ribbon wire.

gently clean with 3M pad , do it on all the contacts and the bulb holders, use Dielectric grease on all contacts ,best thing is to replace all the bulbs with new ones , spending a few dollars on new bulbs is much easier than pulling the cluster again,

LEDs are better but you will have to play with them to figure out the polarity.

In my case it was the sockets themselves were not the correct ones. Although they did work for awhile. They were grey in color and I swapped them out with the correct sockets. No problem since. Stick with stock sockets.

LMC does indeed have a replacement circuit board. You may want to try and clean yours first. A can of Electrical Contact Cleaner works wonders.
