Hello all,

I am in the process of tracking down a contractor style bed cap for my M1008. I hope to set it up for camping.

I found one locally for sale online. The owner says they took it off of a GMC 1500. He sent me measurements of 99.5" long by 61.5" wide. He says that the full door height is 50". He also goes on and says that he wouldn't completely trust his measurements. I am unsure of exactly WHERE on the cap he took the measurements.

I'll attach photos of exactly what I'm shooting for.

I'm hoping to camp with it and ease myself away from having to set up tents time and time again. I also plan to put a Safari Rack on it in the future.

The brand of top is ARE. The number off of it is N1053212...no idea if that will help sort out what series it is or not.

Here are photos he sent me of the top. He says its in fantastic shape and the photo makes the door look kind of funny, but its not.

Do you all think it will fit? I'm trying to get some guidance before I fire the old truck up and take it on a hundred mile ride to get this thing. I would be crushed if it didn't fit.

Can anyone help me identify anything about the top? What should I be concerned with?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I was planning on making the trip to get it late tonight after work. I just want to be sure about it before I waste the time and resources.

I do not know for sure if it will work but the one you pictured is probably a cap from a current model P/K. I am sure someone here knows for sure. I do know that you can put the current bed on these older square bodies as I have seen it done. The boxes are prob so close it will work.

Picture was sent to me a few years ago from a CL ad. Only ones I have.

Without accurate measurements, all you can do is guess.

What kind of truck did the seller take it off from?

I believe it may be a dead end. I called a truck accessory supplier and they said it probably won't fit on account of the bed being tapered (narrower at the tailgate) than the 73-87 bed (being square throughout).

A twist. Now I'm royally confused.

Anyone know the dimensions of the K30 bed off hand?

Hi Kevin, how can I help you today?

Hello Caleb.
Kevin
16:05:28
I have a question
Kevin
16:05:47
I am in the process of looking for a cap for my 1986 Chevrolet K30 pickup.
Kevin
16:06:15
I found someone locally who has a cap, essentially exactly what I want, however, it came off of a 1995 Chevrolet pickup. 8ft
Kevin
16:07:15
N1053212 is the number off of it. I am just curious if it could fit my current truck. My 1986 K30. I know the 1995 GMC 1500 have a little taper to the bed shape, but is that going to be too much to actually USE the cap on my fleetside pickup?
Caleb

The serial number you provided was built for a 2005 Chevy.
Caleb
16:07:51
Or years 1999-2007.
Kevin
16:08:16
Thats odd. He took it OFF a 1995. Will the cap suffice for a 1986 truck?
Caleb
16:08:29
I am not sure of the exact differences between this truck and your truck. It may be something that you could try a test fit to see if it works for your needs. From our end we would say it would not work.
Kevin

Are you able to give me the dimensions of my truck bed? Where is it measured exactly? Its about a hundred miles from me so test fitting it could potentially be a huge waste of time
Kevin
16:10:59
Maybe if I reference the bed dimensions of say, a 99-07 truck and compare them to mine, it could help us visualize whats going on.
Caleb
16:11:06
I do not have measurements for a K30 but the bed length of the 2005 Chevy is 97.5"
Kevin
16:11:51
Where is that measured from?
Caleb
16:12:16
That would be the inside bed length at the floor.
Kevin
16:13:01
Do you happen to know the width?
Caleb
16:14:20
I do not unfortunately.
Kevin
16:15:56
Thank you for your help, Caleb
Caleb
16:16:12
You are welcome!

1995 was the year, I think, they changed the design on the trucks, so it would depend on if its a early 95 or a late 95... Either way, it it was designed for a newer truck, it most likely won't fit.

Wasnt 95 it was 88 but some square body models continued until 91

Can someone please give me the relevant dimensions of the bed on the M1008? K30? I know they're the same.

What are the dimensions at the opening that the tailgate sits in, the distance between bed rails-anything that could help me. I can't get to my truck to measure it myself.
