M1009 door striker pin.

Anybody know what holds the post, or pin that the door closes on, DH gave me some new bushings for the pin, when I start to remove the pin I am thinking the plate it is screwed into will not fall down, any body know this one?

I use electrical tape , no wrench needed lol

A magnet works real good at holding the movable captured nut/threaded plate while swapping out the striker bolts.

 

[ranchhopper]

The captured nut will stay in place but work it out very slowly and hit the threads with PB blaster turn it back in and back it off some more keep lubing it up. Take your time because if you twist the captured nut in its pocket by forcing the striker bolt out to fast you will be SOL.
