Hooked up my M1009 to supplement my 600w solar panels to charge a 24V battery bank. Batteries are running a 4000W inverter to run most of the house during a power outage. Clear skies, no wind, no nothing, but the power is out anyway.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1343501897.442141.jpgand yes, the is a 24V jumper cable to a NATO plug on the shed.

The big lead/acid batteries have doubled in cost since 2004.

The solar panels are coming down in cost which makes grid tie more affordable but if you want emergency power you will need batteries.

Yes, batteries are expensive. Panels and inverter are from 1999. The solar shed and a 2KW Honda generator powered our 3 campers while we built our house over 3 years,

Batteries $0.08/watt hour. Solar panels about $1.50/watt. They were 5.00/watt about 5 years ago. The battery cost is how many hours do you want to run how many watts.
