Hi guys,

I have a simple question.

If the GP controller card is very old, but still seems to be functional.
Is there any benefit/advantage to replacing it with a brand new
better designed one?

That is all...

Well, you could do it just for peace of mind, and keep the old one as a spare. If finances are tight though, there are probably other things needing attention. Just my 2cents

I bought a used one, and replaced my working one with it. Partly as a test of the "new to me" card, and then put my original card in an anti-static bag and stored it away.

Hello Cpf,

Thanks for the advice. I already have a new GP controller card, that I bought months ago,
just in case mine went bad, when my budget then allowed me to get one.

So getting ready for the rally, I wondered if it would make a positive difference with
how my truck starts and runs.

I never took it out of its original packaging so I know it is safe where it is.
But I packed it with my supplies, just in case I need it on the way there or back.

Just my $0.02 cents...

Cyclejay, I think it is a good idea to have a backup Card. Make sure it is correct Card. Have a feeling they made a change to Cards through production period. :driver: My 86 O9 has a more compact version than mainstream?

Are you sure it wasn't the tach buffer card you were looking at? My understanding is that the tach buffer card is much smaller than the GP card.

CUCV Electric corrected me today. Was looking at ICE Card. Need to dive in deeper for GP Card. Do I need to remove Instrument cluster to easily get at?

Yup, tach buffer for the ICE...

If you GP card is where it is supposed to be, it should be up on the side of the brackets under the dash above the steering column. There is a little clip the GP controller housing mounts on. From what I understand, many of them are just left swinging from the cable.
