I probably know what the right answer to this question is but, can a M1009 tow a Mep 003a gen mounted on a M116a2 trailer. I am looking to get a gen mounted on a trailer just was wandering if i could tow it behind my M1009 ocasionaly, not every day or real fare. Thanks

You may loose some power but as long as the trailer has surge brakes you should be fine.

The M1009 -10 says that you shouldn't tow anything bigger than the M416 but they're assuming you're going off road. I towed my MEP003A on a M116 from Ft Bliss to San Antonio with a M1009 doing 60mph without any problem. The surge brakes definately helped.

You can, but the pintle hook is not nearly as secure or well mounted as one on a 1008 and you will be over the rated capacity.

You would be safer if you installed an aftermarket receiver hitch.
