M101A2 Wheel Compatability

Have a local guy with four wheels that came off a "80'S DODGE 3/4 TON 4X4 PICK UP. THEY ARE 8-LUG PATTERN, STEEL WHEELS 16.5 IN. RIMS"

Anyone know if these will fit the M101A2?

Have him measure the lug pattern, distance between lug holes, and center hole diameter, and you'll know after comparing to your trailer wheels.

Understand the pattern is 8 on 6.5...6.5 would be the distance between the center of one lug hole to the center of the lug hole directly opposite the one measured first. Correct?

Is backspacing an issue? The trailer has 2 good wheels...just looking for a spare.

Your wheels should be 16's not 16.5

They will fit.
the A2 has a 8 on 6.5 GM bolt patern.
The hub holes on Dodge and Ford are larger than a GM.
The center hole is larger on the dodge rims but the bolt pattern is correct.

Ford Screwed everyone when they changed thier 8 bolt hubs on the 1998 and newer F250/350 and E250/350 trucks and vans.

Some older 16.5 rims do not have safety beads on them.

Early model gm and dodge 16.5 rims with 8 lugs are the same pattern as 16 inch 8 lug.

Tires are now usually harder to find stocked in the 16.5 and more expensive but as long as you check clearance on tire size you should be ok. Another consideration is many tire shops do not like to work on 16.5 for safety reasons. Huge no no and can easily happen with a green tire tech is to try to mount the tire in a hurry without verifying rim and tire size. Can cause injury when tire blows or comes apart when mismatched. Very little 16.5 out there now except military hmmv and even less with 2 piece split rims. If split rims then I would stay away all together. They are usually from 70 and older.

8 lug rims use conical seat lug nuts that will center properly regardless of center whole diameter when tightened in proper sequence and torque.

What is the standard width of the wheel on the M101A2?

What is the "best" cheapest junk yard replacement wheel to run bigger tires, say a 33 inch?

Mine had 7" GM rims and 235-85-16 tires.
Look for after market 8 bolt rims from a suburban or 3/4 ton pick up.
that was lifted. 8-10" wide but watch the back spacing.
