I just looked at my truck, 4 in the morning and the dog treed a possum. Well I had to look what I did behind on frame and put 2x2 square tube behind the spring perch mount hot rivits across to the frame rail other side at same location to help with side stresses while recovery and help with keeping spring perches from deflecting frame.
Just another cross frame more forward is all I done.

I'm done for the weekend.

I'll post more pictures when I continue the work.

I still have to;
Cap the ends.
Grind off some welding splatter.
Take it off so I can prime and paint it.
Reinstall it.
Plumb the winch and wire in the controls.

that is really good work. now that you have it together, do you think 6x6 box would work with room for the winch. The 8x8 looks good on your truck with the flatbed but I am looking to build a sturdier bumper for my 1009 where I can retain the brush guard and I think yours is just a little to large for the 1009 but a 6x6 would probably be just right.
I measured my winch and I think it would fit but just stick out the top a little more.
Sorry I didn't respond till now. I must not have read your comments originally. As you can see in the attached photo you need a minimum of 6 1/2" to fit the winch. Plus the steel thickness. My 8" square tubing is 1/4" thick so I have 7 1/2 " to work with inside the bumper.

I'm back at it today. I mounted the high lift jack to the bumper.

I don't know why the picture is upside down. I tried to fix it and even took another picture but it loads it upside down.

Finished!

Finally finished the bumper. Stored my J-hooks and chains on the drivers side and a heavy tow chain on the passenger side.
