M105A2 Emergency Air Conversion

I'm adding the emergency air circuit to my M105A2. I have all the parts I need except the plate that is welded to the underside cross member. The TMs don't show me the information that I need. Can someone please post the dimensions of the plate? Pictures with a tape measure on it would be helpful too so I know where to weld it to the cross member. I want it to look as "stock" as possible.

Also, any pics of where the emergency line goes from the trailer tongue to under the box (through the front cross member) would be helpful so I can get the fasteners correct. I'm assuming the emergency air hose and glad hand are dangled over the tongue and do not have a mounted holder like the service glad hand?

Thank you,
Al Jones

Not exactly what you were asking for, but I had 90 secs to click some pics before I leave for Atlanta. I can do better if this isn't up to snuff.

10" wide at the top. Centered in between the two holes for the parking brake cables. 9" tall from the top the bottom.

I replaced the drain plug with a ball valve. I'm not sure if the tank needs to be drained, but I thought it could accumulate liquid and draining was a good idea.

Any other pictures would be appreciated so i can get as close to stock as possible. Any guess on the thickness of the metal? Are there straps on the back of the ubolts or just nuts and washers?

Thank you.

Can any post how far the bottom of the tank is from the bottom of the cross member? I see now that the plate does no go to the top of the cross member. I just realized I do not have the ubolts for the tank - anyone know of a source? I'll also post in the classifieds.

Thanks,
Al Jones

Its just a little over halfway up on the cross member, but to me - the higher the better. The U-bolts can be 5/16 or 3/8 round. Just figure the length & thread the ends. If you don't have a die, take a cap screw, cut the head off, and butt weld it to the round. Just use the air tank to bend the round stock over (or some other round thing, a little smaller then the desired diameter, as it will spring back some, when bent). Not much moisture will get back to that tank, if any. But it should have a petcock, should you want to bleed off the air. A drain can be had from a heavy truck store, that has a lanyard on it, so you don't have to crawl under there. I have them on the Medusa, to drain it. I don't like leaving the hydraulic brakes set with air for extended times, so I would want the air drained off - no real reason for that.

Bringing this back up to the top. Can we please get some more pictures (Thanks, Clinto). I'd like this to look as close to stock as possible. Measurements, etc. would be appreciated. I'll post pics of my install once I get the mounting plate made.

Thanks,
Al Jones

Can you please measure the thickness of the mounting plate? I can use a ruler to estimate the plate size off the photos. Can you please also measure the diameter of the mounting u-rods? I'll have to make my own. Thanks!

A million thank yous. Any idea how thick the plate is? I'm glad you posted pics. I did not know there was a reinforcing beam behind the plate.

Thanks again!
