Im new to the Humvee world and certain information that Ive been able to find regarding solid axle rigs has been a lot easier. I'm trying to figure out what the WMS "wheel mounting surface" distance is on the front and rear of a Humvee. Is that identical to an M1101 trailer? Regarding the body of the Humvee and the M1101 are they the same width?

I've been having issues finding information regarding alternative wheel backspacing as well, seems like most people are using offset in my now for some reason. I figured if dimensionally these trailers are the same as the Humvee Ill use the trailer to calculate what my wheel backspacing needs to be with 42" tires. Or maybe some of y'all would just like to see an M1101 on 42's just cause? Obviously I'm planning on running 42s on the Humvee. unnamed (1).jpgunnamed.jpg

I searched the site, didn't find anything regarding how to clean a tan 1101 canvas cover/tarp. I picked up a decent m1101, but the tan canvas is all black and blotty. 15 degree pressure washer didn't even put a dent in the dirty. Any tips or links to threads I may have overlooked? I went to post a new thread but I guess I "dont have enough privledges" ???

did you get one of the ones from Butner? They had some Tan ones that were really dirty. I would think you would need to use a chemical on them to get them clean.

I got one for a fair price that originally was from Butner off of a fella who lives in NC somewhat close to the depot. The m1101 is currently tan but I may paint it camo or carc green to match my m1009 at some point. But right now, I would like to get the canvas as clean as possible as the weather is starting to drop out and pressure washing won't be fun soon haha. Someone said to use bleach based mold/fungus killer?

Might as well throw this out there. I'd be willing to trade my tan one for a camo or green one in similar shape. No holes, zippers work, no tears, all clips in good shape. It's just dirty dirty from sitting dirty in the sun. There is a NOS green one on fleabay for 1000$ but I honestly can't even think about bringing myself to paying 1000$. If anyone's interested, message me and I'll send pictures after I clean it up in the next few days. I doubt anyone will, but stranger things have happened.

Sounds like a fun project! I wish my trailer was woodland camo, but for some reason those sell for more money. I thought about painting mine but I just don’t have the motivation, I keep telling myself it’s just a trailer. Those canvas covers are incredibly expensive. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to use the canvas cargo cover off of the Humvee I just bought on my m1101 but we will see. What are you plans with this trailer? I would reach out to anyone with a softwash service and get them to spray it. Whatever solution they use seems to work miracles, I think it’s sodium hypochlorite. Good luck with it! Would love to hear if you’re able to get it cleaned up!

I'd attempt spraying it down with dawn dish detergent in the foaming spray bottle, followed by power washing it.

I found a thread from 2017 here via google (for some reason google searches the site better) that mentioned 3m marine vinyl cleaner and restorer, so thats what Im gonna use. I hate to highjack this thread, but as mentioned I cant start a new thread for some reason. Ill report back with pics of before and after in the next few days/week or so.

no worries dude! Post away, let’s see a before and after. I do think you’re going to have to get something that’s more aggressive than vinyl cleaner and restorer. Best of luck!

My buddies who have boats sent me a link to special vinyl magic erasers as well. As long as the weather holds out, Monday will be the day I get to cleanin.

Is that a 6.5 Humvee engine? Your trailer is clean af.
Yea its a 6.5 Turbo motor. not sure what Im going to do with it, but it was free. You should see the trailer now, I touched up a few places with touch up paint and its really nice. For some reason the GovPlanet decals wouldn't come off so I sanded them off. looks perfect now.

Did you try goo gone on the govplanet sticker residue? I haven't gotten that far yet, hauled a few ton of 2b limestone yesterday. I did however, find a spray solution that works amazingly. Its called RMR-86M on Amazon. Spray on, wait 10 minutes and 95% of the mildew stains melt away. I did buy some "marine grade magic erasers" and still scrubbed the canvas; paired with the spray solution it really cleans it and almost looks like new. Pics to follow in the next day or two once I get the canvas all done. You have to spray it on heavy if your canvas is really dirty, and maybe the super dirty spots will need a 2nd application. I used a bottle and a half on the outside, and I'll probably use the other bottle and a half on the inside part of the canvas.

Nice! Yea I tried a few things to get the stuff off but in the end I sanded them off with a DA a 80 grit and then 120 and then hit it with some touch up paint. Came out good!

I had thought about repainting the entire trailer woodland camo, probably would have done it if the underside wasn’t tan, I just don’t have the motivation to spray the underside of the trailer, so tan it will stay.
