That looks like the connector for the transmission controller, minus the transmission controller that is usually under the rear drivers side seat base.

From my experience when my transmission controller died because the water proof box was full of water, without a working TCM you can drive it and it will get into 2nd gear but that is it. Essentially you are in what is called limp mode. Designed to be able to get you back, but not quickly. Don't push the transmission too hard in this state.
