Aww my bad. I didnt want someone to put the wrong shock in the tongue and have a problem braking.

They are looking for the suspension shock, not the surge brake one.

OK, after crossing some #'s, the Monroe 32301 is the OE fit for a 1971 Blazer- so if the parts houses are not having any luck looking it up, just ask for a rear shock for a 71 blazer!

34944 shocks will involve removing the metal sleeve inside the rubber bushing....otherwise it will not fit over the bolt.....im in the midst of trying to remove that metal sleeve...its not coming out easily.....

anyway..just an fyi..update.....

i used my tap and die set.......they finally came out.......but.....maybe one of the other stock numbers will be a direct replacement with the least amount of trouble.....
