M116A3 to palomino Colt C7 popup offroad possible project

Got a possibility of a slick offroad popup build. A lot of things have to come together.

1. I will have to have the winning bid for M116A3 trailer.

2. The Palomino Colt will have to be priced to a resealable price. The current targets have yet to be evaluated.

If the aforementioned conditions are met the project can continue.

As of now I have four palomino Colts located and two M116A3 trailers.

Current efforts are tightly focused on adjustable height channel hitch modification from the current actuator to hitch connection.

This photo looks like the modification I have in mind.

the top tan looks like a homemade (welded support not forged) version I may have to result too. Would rather use a NOS component parts swap in this project.


Not sure what the name of the circled (in yellow) part is but if anyone knows what a parts depot would call this item or better yet a name and parts number and or manufacturer name. Anything would be helpful and more then grateful.

Dexter Brake?? with Lunette ring

other wise the channel with holes in it designed to fit a lunette ring.... that alone can be found at E-Trailer.... even tractor supply and the likes

It appears to be a Hydro-Act Actuator Model TA6- TA7 5,000 -7,000 lb or varent there of.

I have reviewed the Differences between the Comercially available types

And milliary counterparts

It looks like the difference is the small triangle brace is sold in the milspec version and two pieces of thin triangle steel in the commercially available product.

Figure if i am going to this much trouble i am going to keep the components as HD as possible.

I am happy to report that i was the winning bid on a M116A3 military trailer. Found out Monday.

Now step two of this possible project. The Palomino Colt C7 popup. I have a couple of local candidates i am considering. Wanted to make sure i could get the M116A3 prior to purchasing the popup.
