Good thing I decided to blast the coolant crossover tube! I think the only thing from keeping it from leaking was the 4 layers of paint!20170113_095824.jpg

Found this engine overheated big time! Main bearings and connecting rod bearings should not look like this.20170218_160752.jpg

So I have an update!
I had a busy but productive day today!
My duece had a "custom" piece of junk roof. It needed to be replaced!
I had no luck finding one close enough to purchase, plus I don't care for the way they look. Today I drew up some plans for a bullet proof and much more aggressive looking roof. Here are the pics of today's venture. All that's left is to skin it and install a rear window.
First I had to figure out a good way to get my welder up where it was useful. Here was my solution ;)

New design early deuce hard top

It's such a logical, simple design, we would have been better off using something like that on all the hardtops we had. The boys eventually built racks over some of the tops but the roof usually saw a lot of damage. Lookin' good, can't wait to see that Detroit pull it down the road.

Wanted to build a roof out of aluminum and rivet together, thought that would look great (being an aircraft mechanic and like doing sheet metal work) but got to thinking if somebody got on it, it would be ruined. Soooo I think I will follow your lead and build a **** for stout roof like yours that would hold up. Have to get it built this summer before next winter.

Yeah would look awesome! I want something I don't ever have to worry about. Everything else is over built but they slacked in the roof department.
