Does anyone know the part numbers for the vise, bench grinder and drill press that goes in the M185A3?
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Here is the deal.
The M109A2 and M185A3 are just trucks, with a van box mounted on the back. The M185A3 had several different tool kits, that it could be outfitted with. We need to know which one has the vice. Each Tool Kit, had a document called an SC. Proper name, Supply Catalog. What it was is more or less an inventory listing of every part and tool that a Tool Kit had. Including consumables. It normally listed things by NSN, Nomenclature, Part number, unit of issue, if that tool was part of a larger set, (like a Tool Roll full of wrenches) and had little blocks so you could do an inventory and mark an X in the block to signify that the tool was there. Also a block to write inventory date. The document was not meant to be written on, but to be Scanned/copied for use. The SC is a separate document, not listed in the TM's for the basic truck.
So, the questions I am going to ask you, are:
1. Do you have a M185A3?
2. Is there a data plate on it someplace, that tells you what Tool kit was in it? What KIND of repair shop? There was a Fuel and Electric repair shop mounted in such a truck. Also an Avionics repair, Small Arms repair shop, to name a few.
If we know what tool kit it is, there is a chance that we might be able to find the SC.
