Asking for experinced suggestions on what the best boot for longevity on the knuckles. I have replaced them for many years with zippered replacements from Memphis Equipment and just not satisfied with the life of them. Is one piece bettet and is there an incredible bullet proof material out there. I know I have installed them on Brush trucks for the Fire Departmentand that is severe duty. I will be pulling axles and knuckles on this job I have up and coming so sugeestions please and thank you. Happy Thanksgiving

I just installed zippered from Big Mike after the well fitting oversized from Western Canadian Rockwell were torn after 4 years. I really liked those but I'm not ripping the knuckles apart just for boots.

It's just a pleasantly miserable job to do axle boots that takes much longer than you think it should take.

Thank you for your response! Do the one piece do better long run?

I cannot confirm that. Let's see how long my new zippered ones last. I often think that canvas boots might be best if the truck is not heavily off roaded....but they only exist for the old Deuces

I could get a year maybe a year and a half from a zippered boot on my 5 ton then in September 2015 I put in the one piece boots and they are still like new I looked in my repair notes .

To Topo
Who did you buy those from and do you know who made them. Perhaps what material are they.

I think I bought them from Memphis Equipment, and they were silicone. The zippered boots looked like the grease broke them down and they fail .
I observed the same on some of mine. Deteriorating around the stiching. Others failed due to foreign objects penetrating them. Then some just plainly ripped for no apparent reason. Thank you
