M35A2 braking systems

Hey guys I was wondering about braking systems on the deuce. I have been searching the site to find what I'm looking for but no luck so far. My question is are there different braking systems on the M35? Or did they stick to one style for the life of the trucks?

I ask because I was told that my truck may have a "divorced" type of braking? maybe that means two master cylinders? I haven't had a chance to get under the truck to see but I was hoping for some insight from some fellow members on this one. Or if there has already been a thread on this please tell me how I may locate it.

Thankx

The trucks maintained an identical brake system (other than upgrades to individual pieces) pretty much through it's entire life. The exception is the late 80s trucks that have a split system instead of a sigle circuit system. The split system has one master cylinder but 2 air assist units. (airpacks)

Does this double air pack design help with the problems the single circuit system had? I have read here that with the single circuit system a leak in the brake line could lead to a lose of all brakes completely. Now I am not sure if that is 100% true but being that the truck is 13,000#'s I'd like to have a better idea of whats under there bringing me to a stop :-D

You do have to get under it and check everything out. I just put a new airpac on and mine now stops like a car..

I also recommend a remote reservoir- someone is selling these in the ads. If properly maintained it is a great system, easy to maintain and easy to repair. BUT it must be watched and checked as part of your daily pre-trip.
