Hey guys.

Does anyone know where in the TMs is the task to rebuild the generator? I think mine is bad. It’s killing my batteries. When I was on active duty those things had to go to the depo more times than I can remember.

The be been on Jatonka’s site and downloaded most of the TMs, but it’s been probably since 1998 that I worked on one of these so I’m having trouble nailing down what TM goes with what.

do rebuild kits exist? I seem to remember breaking them down and changing out brushes and going through the whole thing

Ah. Ok. I really appreciated you posting that link I just didn’t see what I was looking for during my cursory check. If I call them can they help me put together a kit or something?

That would be my suggestion. They are one of very few outfits that deal with these old 60 amp generators.

If ?? you have access or the capability to do a little welding and metal fabrication
I would just by a 24 volt “one wire “ alternator. $95-125 Amazon.
Easy peasy. And depending on your powerplant ( cat C-7 etc.) there might
be a bracket that you could order or do some looking at a truck salvage Yard?

I was up by Enid, but we just bought a house down south of Duncan.

I’ve done some welding, but nothing on an engine yet. Just simple field expedient stuff in the army. I’m not a pro by any measure. I’d definitely give it a shot though. Never afraid to do that
