Quickfarms- I definitly agree. These are great trucks to work with. Off road they rock for what I do, and indeed make good local haul trucks!!!! I have yet to find anyone who doesnt want to drive one of these things at work

I have Goodyear G177 11R20 radiials. Rides nice.
Got a 5,000 lb hydraulic Autocrane off ebay, which will go in the rear corner of the bed. Not as nice as a knuckleboom, but a lot lighter and not sacrifice bed length, just a little width. This will be a post-retirement project.

Definitly keep me/us posted as your project continues, I will like to see how yours turns out!! You using a woodmizer for your quarter sawing? Or do you have a local sawyer?

Good work on getting the truck together. If I was to do it all over again, I would seriously consider going with a shorter length truck than the M36 and mount the loader on a trailer.... Then the truck wouldn't get overloaded as quickly and having the extra dual wheels on the trailer would almost double the braking power. Braking power is the biggest weakness in these trucks. They can handle the weight, but the fudge factor leaves really less than desirable outcomes if a failure happens... I would have the short wheelbase truck with two bunks for 12ft logs and the trailer built for up to 16ft logs/tractor hauling. My loader brought my empty truck up to 19,500lbs. Not much left over to be street legal for loads and yes I understand that combined vehicle weight still applies to GVW... I'm just thinking out loud about the added braking aspect...
