It seems that my air assist is not working properly. It takes as much effort to turn the A3 as it did my A2.

I have searched threads and my firewall valve is all the way open (counter clockwise) . First pic.

I see no regulator, so I assume it’s been removed.

What is the black item on the frame . Second pic.

I hear no “Pffffttt “ when turning wheel left to right.

If someone has a good link for diagnosing. Please post. Thanks in advance.

I hope @gimpyrobb is still on here!

Thanks in advance.

That "black thing" is the regulator. Have you tried following the troubleshooting steps in the unit direct support and general support manual, volume 1?

I think some owners on here bypassed the regulator, which solved many of their steering assist system problems. I've left my system alone as I think it works well enough.

Still around, just not on multiple times a day anymore!
The draglink is pretty much the "working" part of the system. Make sure you have air pressure going in, if you do, thats the culprit.

Yes that black cylinder is the regulator, get rid of it.
PM me a number if we need to speak directly, I don't have your number anymore.

Pulled regulator and added air to draglink from my air compressor per GimpyRob. Only went to 85lbs. Pressure.
Thankfully it’s working. Hearing “Pssstt” when turning steering wheel. It Doesn’t seem like it has much range and seems it turns to left easier than right (see pics).

Will verify I am getting air down to drag link before I hook back up.

Did I read somewhere to add some marvel mystery oil to drag link To help with lubrication ?
