M35A3 batteries

Any one have suggestions on replacing batteries on my M35A3 has Allison auto and CTIS, if relevant

My A3 came from the Air Force w/ Red Top Optima's. There is an 6tl adapter tray that centers and supports them.

Do you know the model number of the Optimas and where I can get the adapter tray?

The batteries are Group 34 or 34m. Good prices on the web. Optima battery adapter (p/n 240046) I got mine from the nice people at Military Battery Systems (milbatteries.com).
Google is your friend. Lots of info out there.

These are the same trays needed to use the optima batteries in the MEP-804, 805 and 806 generator sets, when the original plastic battery tray was missing

is the NSN used to order them. We called them "the boot". The battery slipped into a channel, and when it was completely inserted, a tab popped up to keep the battery in the boot, (or maybe better said, socket).

Any suggestions for batteries besides Optima? They are expensive. My only use is engine starting. also, where to get the 6tl adapter tray for what ever batteries will fit?

65 series are small enough for the tray and have enough power. Around $70 ea for interstate batteries from your local Costco if you have a membership.
