the first number is the number of gears; 5, 6, or 7. the next three numbers are the torque input rating; ex: 085 = 850ft-lb. lastly, there could be a letter after which would designate the gear ratio group if there were options.
so an FSO6085A is an OD 6spd, rated for 850ft-lbs, with gear ratio package 'A'. same nomenclature scheme that Eaton/Fuller uses for the rest of their trans lineup.
