M37 Cargo Bows

The M101 trailer bows ARE NOT the correct ones for the M37! They won't work, and will damage the canvas on the M37.

I will keep looking for the correct ones, and thanks for information!

The bows for the M101 and M37 are not the same. The wood has the same cross sectional area, but the lengths off all the components are different. The corners are also different, the ones for the M37 have holes in them that you can pass a rope or strap through and have the bolts running parallel to the centerline of the truck, the ones for the M101 have no rope/strap holes and have the bolts running perpendicular to the centerline of the truck. You can use M101 corners on a M37, but you have to use the M35 style tarp roll up straps instead of the M37 style, and you can't run the front or rear curtain rope through the bracket (a small deal in both cases).

Photo 4 is likely the best one to show the corner on a M37 if you don't feel like looking at all the M37 ones.

I have yet to measure and photograph the bows on any of my M35's... But I will have to replace a couple of pieces of wood in the near future on one of them as I have a couple of splintered ones on the rear bow of a truck I just got into the yard, and the troop seats on another are a tad rough...

I'll post this over on the M37 section as well...

PS: Use of the M101 corners won't particularly hurt the canvas on the M37 as long as you use round head screws like the ones that you are supposed to use on the M101 to mount the wood to the corners... All you have is a tad more metal rubbing on the canvas and you don't want any sharp corners...

Thank you for the excellent pictures! I was at a loss to find good clear pictures of the correct cargo bows.

I have the 6 stake pocket uprights, and the center bracket for the wood across the front, but there looks like a metal strip that attaches tp the front corner uprights. Am I missing a piece that allows the 3 wood strips to attach to the corner uprights?

It is tough to find all the missing pieces on the M37, when nobody close owns a complete one to check out where everthing is supposed to go!

Thanks again, you have been a valuable resource for all of us new M37 owners! 8)

Longhunter, there are a pair of clips that connect the headache rack to the side rails that is very similar to the clips used on farm trailers and such. I'll take a couple of photos tonight when I get home (drove the M38 to work today...). The upright on the side racks has half the clip, the other half is the end piece for the headache rack... Headache rack takes three metal pieces in other words, two ends and a center...

Tad hard to see the actual clip shape since I didn't feel like unbolting the center support on the rack (where it connects to the front center of the bed), but I think that you can get the idea of what is going on. If you can't find a clip assembly from somebody, I suspect that you could get the basic clip from AgriSupply, Norther, or some other place with trialer supplies and weld it onto a piece of strap, drill the holes and be on your way... Especially since you say that you already have the front corner piece for the side rack so you have half the clip in your hands so to speak...

Good luck, and let me know if I have to unbolt the front rack for some better photos...

Thanks for the pictures! I hope to find the correct part to get the bed wood project started!

I do have the six stake pocket posts and the front bracket for the headache rack.

I am still missing the elusive troop seat brackets that mount down in the bed. They seem to be very scarce and or expensive!
