So about 20 miles into a run I had loss of power followed by a bang and some white smoke from exhaust. Pulled over and radiator had over pressured and the top tank had blown apart at the seams (incorrect rad cap)
Temp gauge wasn’t working
Radiator is being re built. I have taken the head off to replace head gasket.!
Having cleaned the head I took it to auto engineer who reckons it needs 22 thou taken off to level it out - which is a lot
Has anyone ever skimmed this much off a head before?
are thicker head gaskets available?
shoukd I get it skimmed or leave it as is?
anyone else had similar issues?
With thanks in advance

Get the head resurfaced, .022 isn't that much.

Agreed on getting it resurfaced if you could make up that much difference with a gasket its going to have a hard time for that setup being reliable!
