M38a1 serial number

Hi everyone,
my dad is the proud owner of a M38a1. And plans now are to restore it completely. This weekend I'm going to sand back the rear bumpers and I'm hoping I can find some markings of the unit it belonged to. I was just wondering what year it is from. The serial number is MD69838.

Welcome Frederic. I believe your A1 is a 1954. The date of manufacture should be stamped on the dashboard data plate. Good luck with the restoration. I got my M38A1 in 1980 and I still have it. The G503 website is also a great resource for Jeeps.
