When I 1st acquired my water buffalo it had a slight yellow tint to the stainless. After I cleaned it(which was easy) it became very bright inside that tank. I thought it may have been the microscopic beginnings of rust, but it all wiped out, making me think there was iron in the water that was in it last. I know there are different varieties of stainless. My silverware is magnetic too.
