M52A2 45or55MPH

I have owned 2 M52A2's W/W. Both have been great trucks.
The first truck would go 55MPH@2400RPM's

The second truck will only go 45MPH@2400RPM's.

I could tell a big difference in the gearing on the 1st truck between 3rd and 4th gear to help it reach 55MPH.

I'm thinking about purchasing an M818. I do not like the 45MPH top speed.
Do all the M818's go at least 55MPH.

You probably had a direct drive M52a2, like I did. 45 mph. THe 818's have a overdrive, and can run fine at 55. (The one thing I don't like though, is the shift pattern is the same as a deuce on a 818 unlike a M52).

once you get used to the huge..... HUGE gap between third and fourth gear you will be fine. it's red line to idle with 1 shift.

Direct drive is when your highest gear in the trans is 1:1 ratio.
