The cargo version was designed to swim, generally without any preps. The cargo bed sides are all sealed with low pressure air. The cab is completely water proof with feed-through connectors and pressure sealed doors. Foam filled floatation chambers in the front help make up for the weight of the winch. Two bilge pumps are standard on the cargo version.
The engine is designed operate under water without preps, compressor air intake from engine ait filter canister, crankcase vent with valve for pressurization. Separate fan belt to allow for slippage under water without sacrifice of generator power. Dual output generator to support bilge pump operation while swimming. It goes on and on and on.
Aluminum in every possible application to save weight. The oil filter bracket on the engine is made of aluminum, the torque rods are aluminum, the cab, the cargo bed and parts of the brake drums.
Downside is that the scrappers love them.
The 8x8 weighs about 3,000 lb less than the equivalent all steel 5-ton trucks. More horse power for a better power to weight ratio.
Excellent offroad abilities, can't wait to try it out.
