I got all the belts on my M818 Kaiser jeep with nhc250 motor. My only problem is how to tighten the fan pulley belt? i loosened all three screws on the fan pulley housing and loosing the two screws for the alternator and loosened the jamnut and screw but still can’t get any tension on the belt

The Water pump is shaped like an eccentric- loosen the bolts that hold the outer ring ( do not remove) and lightly tap with a flat faced chisel or similar

I think there are 3 bolts that you loosen to loosen the fan hub and then there is another bolt kind of between the alternator and the block below the water pump that points in toward the block and has a large jamb nut on it. Back off the jamb nut and then tighten that bolt and as it tightens it pulls the fan hub toward the passenger side tightening the belts.
