M813 Double Frame

Hey Guys,

Has any one extended the stock double frame on rear end of their truck? Ive been working on my dump hoist install on the 813. Ive been looking over at some previous builds and would like to extend the original double frame that ends over the rear tandem so that continues to the end of the frame where the hinges for the dump hoist will be welded. Im having trouble finding a piece of channel to fit within the original frame rails. I am familiar with the C and MC sections but nothing seems to fit. The closest looks to be the MC 8 X 18.7 but the legs and web thickness are not close to the specs of either frame. Ive also been reading that truck frames are usually not typical commercial sections and they are custom made for an application. Has anybody came up with a readily available commercial size to fit or am I going to have something custom made?

Anything that you do is going to have to be custom made. I plan on double framing one of my 5-tons, but I'm going to be using the taller frame section from my M814 and welding other sections of frame together to achieve that. Why do you think you need the additional strength at the rear of your frame?

PG Adams Frame in VT can bend up anything you need.

Yes, those are two 26' mega ton press brakes slaved together... from the VA shipyards of the 1940's. Originally used to bend up battleship plate.

They bent up a 31' wheel base Peterbuilt frame for us.

BTW, most commercial build manuals (like Peterbuilt end to spec out very common frame rails dimensions.
