Last week, the John Deere wheeled loader was stolen during the night and was used in an attempt to recover another backhoe that was stuck in a creek crossing. The thief got the loader stuck as well and then abandoned both pieces of equipment in light of rising flood waters. Before the equipment was found, it was sitting in 10-12 feet of water.

After the water receeded, we used the M816 and M818 to recover the disabled loader. With the right equipment, the job was easy.

Anyone want to buy a wheeled loader? It ran when parked.

Prime suspect would probably be the owners of the backhoe that the thieves went to extract. Unless that unit was going to be stolen, as well.

Thieves are the lowest of the low. Too poor and lazy to get their own stuff, so they take the fruits of others' labor instead. Hope they drowned in the flood.

We know who did it and he has been charged. He drove the loader nearly 20 miles to recover the backhoe, which was also stolen. :cookoo:

Good Looking Pictures and nice trailer! DRIVING a stolen wheel loader for 20 miles..... Law enforcement is not looking for a Phi Beta Kappa for this botched mission. Could it be Cletus the slacked jaw local?

RE: nice pictures

that folding goose neck, does it use air or hyd. to open out and to close uo or is it a winch pull up and let down, we have two 3 axles like that at work that are winch pull up and let down. one of the 3 axles would look nice on the back of the 819

The trailer has a hydraulic system that is driven by a pony motor. After a quick key start, you are able to lower/raise the gooseneck and lower/raise the landing gear. Very handy to have around. With an M819, you could be a one man show and wouldn't need the M818 to pull the trailer. I never should have sold my M819.

So were you lucky enough that they left the wheel loader in the straight position or did the emergency hydraulics work enough to straighten it out for loading?

Later,
Joe

The wheels were fairly straight and I think they almost self steered once the winching began.
