hi guys

I have looked at over 436 posts and still can not find exactly what I am looking for.

my question is about power steering box.

The TM 20 does not really go into the proper operation of the system, at least I don't see where it does. if some one can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

My research so far shows that this type of hydraulic system is pretty loose unless the engine is running. Do you all agree?

Once the engine is running I seem to have very little steering lash( which is good). But my question is about safety inspections that check the lash with the engine off. Have any of you had a commerical safety inspection and had the inspectors check the steering lash with the engine off and found it quite loose ( several inches )? Did you tell them that the truck needs to be running for the steering to work properly?

wondering about how normal these types of steering boxes are and if DOT inspectors are familar with them or are they going to freak out

thanks
lou
