M818 brake light problem

The brake lights on my M818 turn on for about 2 seconds when I step on the brake pedal and then they go out. All the other lights work fine and the blinker switch has been replaced. Anyone know what might be causing the problem?

Have you replaced the brake light switch?

No, seems to me a bad switch would either work or not work. Does a bad switch act like this?

I have had that problem on a Deuce and I fixed it like that , but im sure others might know more than me. - Jay

I will jumper the switch terminals-if the lights stay on, then it is a bad switch.

i had a m37 that did that and it was a short but when that happened all the lights went off

Agreed-sounds exactly like my problem. Must have missed this thread. I will look at the air switch.

Bad switch. Jumpered brake switch and brake lights came on and stayed on.

Replaced switch. Problem fixed!
