Does anyone know if the Betts 9 inch offset mudflap hangars, part number B69 can be mounted on the M818 side frame rails and give enough clearance behind the rear drive axle tires?? Has anyone mounted any other aftermarket mudflap hangers without mounting some sort of frame extensions on a M818?? With the M917 trailer on it its not much of a problem. Without the trailer is another story. Sure would hate to hurt someone or damage anything behind me throwing something out of those lugged tires.

Even when a flap is mounted real close to the tires, they usually don't rub on the tires, going down the road - air movement causes them to trail backwards some. If they are set back very much, they can catch on the landing gear of the trailer, when turning, especially on uneven ground. The down side, of having them close, is when you backup into brush or even deep snow can push the flap against the tires, and their rotation will pull the flap off. Best to take them off, unless bob tailing it.
