I'm having a trouble truck here that keeps tossing me problems with the front axle. RRAD did a poor job when they "overhauled" it by not greasing the bearings causing a cascade of issues. I redid both hubs with new seals and bearings and it apparently didn't like it. What is caused this issue? Does anyone have a front shaft I could acquire if needed? I have to get this done ASAP. aua

What remains wrapped around the axle?
Exactly. It looks like something was shaving against the axle shaft inside the spindle and it got wrapped. I don't see any bushing or etc in the TM in this location.

Was the inboard bearing intact? Could someone have shimmed the bearing instead of replacing a worn spindle?

It looks like the bushing in the spindle (2nd photo) came apart and damaged the axle. The spindle should have a bushing in it.

I have a bushing and inner seal that can be in the mail in the morning. The galled up bushing surface on the axle shaft is going to shred that bushing again though. You might could clean that up but it's hard to tell from the pictures if any material is missing or it's just the surface that's damaged.

I sent you a PM with my number. Give me a call after 5:00 eastern time and we'll work something out. I don't have much time to type right now.

No bearing in the spindle but you must lube the bushing before install. We have talked about that for years.
Also would bet that the new bushing will need to be reamed to correct size.

I got off the phone with Swamp Donkey just a while ago and he's sending me a bushing. I've got NOS spindles incoming from auction and I may just put one on it to be safe. I would like to swap the axle shaft out to eliminate any potential issues there as well. The question is can I pull a front axle shaft from an m809 series truck to swap in? I have access to those but not m939 ones.
